Mother's Day Weekend

The Ortiz family had another busy weekend (but aren't they all like that anymore). This weekend, in addition to it being Mother's Day, Alex's team played in a soccer tournament.

The tournament was for all top finishing teams in our area. We played teams from Austin, Georgetown, and Round Rock. Soccer start early on Saturday morning. We all met to go down to the complex at 8:00 am. Her team tied the first two games and won the last game 4 to 1. The last game was a major milestone for her team because they played another team from Temple that they are always trying to beat.

For Mother's day, we returned since the girls qualified for the playoffs. They won their first game and proceed to the finals. The last game was a real nail bitter. They ended up losing 1-3 but played a really good game. For the whole central Texas area they came in second place. Here are all of the girls with their trophies.

Caden spent his first whole day outdoors on Saturday. It was 90 degrees and humid, but suprisingly he took the whole thing real well. He seemed to be really interested in the first game. He would sit on my lap and watch the people go back and forth. He looked like someone watching tennis.. back and forth... back and forth. Mom forgot the camera so unfortunately it is just a memory no photo to share. Later he laid under a tree and took a nice nap. Everyone commented how peaceful he looked... and how they all wanted to be just like him!!

After the games on Sunday we went to Gattiland with the team. The kids enjoyed some pizza and then went to play a couple of games. Caden even joined in on the fun. He was a cheap date though because he was more interested in looking at the bright lights than anything else. He and Poppi checked out all of the cool things before he was just too tired to keep his eyes open anymore.

Mother's Day was nice. The kids got me some waterglobes that go in my plants to help keep them watered. I am really excited to try and use them so I might actually be able to keep something alive. Caden even gave me a special treat.. he decided to laugh yesterday for the first time. It is so neat to see all of the new things he is learning to do. He makes me smile at least once every day.

Hope all of the mothers had a great day. We will talk to you again soon.
